*Under the new Rules of Golf, which will be in effect from 2012-15, a player is no longer penalized if their ball is moved, through no fault of their own, after address. A stated example was, if wind causes a player’s ball to move on the green following address, the player will play the ball from its new position without penalty.
*Ball in Hazard; Prohibited Actions (Rule 13-4). Exception 2 to this Rule is amended to permit a player to smooth sand or soil in a hazard at any time, including before playing from that hazard, provided it is for the sole purpose of caring for the course and Rule 13-2 (improving lie, area of intended stance or swing or line of play) is not breached.
*Time of Starting (Rule 6-3a). The rule is amended to provide that the penalty for starting late, but within five minutes of the starting time, is reduced from disqualification to loss of the first hole in match play or two strokes at the first hole in stroke play. Previously this penalty reduction could be introduced as a condition of competition.

Washington DC- New York Annual Tournament
As usual, we participated in the annual tournament between the Malaysian in the 2 states. Most people are from the Malaysian Embassy in DC and the Malaysian Consulate in New York. The tournament allows participants from the GLS as well.

Ramadhan
August has been a stagnant month for Malaysian golfers in DC.
The Muslims are observing the fasting month of Ramadhan, which will end mid-September.
There are a few of the players who are still active playing over the weekends.
No tournament was scheduled though, despite the beautiful weather of the summer.
MGinDC would also like to wish 2 of our friends who went back to Malaysia and Brunei, Mr Amir Faizal and Mr Zuffri, respectively, for their contribution to the team and to the sport itself.
We hope that we will be seeing each other again sometimes very soon.
MGinDC is planning a tournament on the 3rd day of Eid celebration, which might fall on Sunday.

Ian Poulter wins Match Play Championship
Ian Poulter, dressed in pink on a chilly day in the desert, captured the biggest victory of his career Sunday by leading the final 28 holes and beating Paul Casey 4 and 2 in an all-England final at the Match Play Championship in Marana, Ariz.
MARANA, Ariz. — Ian Poulter earned something more stylish than anything in his celebrated wardrobe.
Dressed in pink on a chilly day in the desert, Poulter captured the biggest victory of his career Sunday by leading the final 28 holes and beating Paul Casey 4 and 2 in an all-England final at the Match Play Championship.
Along with taking his first World Golf Championship title, the 34-year-old Poulter got his first win on U.S. soil.
"It's been a long time coming," the ninth-seeded Poulter said after closing out the sixth-seeded Casey with a par on the 34th hole to earn $1.4 million.
Casey, who lost to Geoff Ogilvy in last year's final, made $850,000 as runner-up in the 64-player event.
Resuming a semifinal match that had been suspended by darkness Saturday, Casey won with a par Sunday morning after 23rd-seeded Camilo Villegas of Colombia hooked his tee shot into the desert. Casey prevailed in 24 holes.
